The printing of your label requires “plates and dies”. A “plate" is either a rubber, metal or paper material, which is made for each color that will be printed on your label. These are "one-time" charges, which occur the first time your order a label or when there is a change in the label. A die is a metal tool that cuts out the shape and size of your label. We have hundreds of different dies but occasionally we do not have the specific shape and size that your label requires, so a die will be need to be ordered. This would also be a “one-time” charge. Your customer service or sales representative will discuss all of this with you during the ordering process.
A varnish is a coating applied in the last print station to protect the graphics previously printed. A varnish can also be applied to enhance imprinting on the label stock. Most varnishes used for print protection are UV cured and provide additional abrasion and chemical resistance. Laminations are clear films that are applied to the surface of the label. They are typically more durable and more scuff resistant than a varnish.
The industry standard bears a tolerance of +/- 10% as the acceptable range for order variance. If you require exact orders, please advise us when you place your order.
